There are three stages to the installation.

Stage 2 - If necessary, update the firmware for your SBS-1
Stage 3 - Upgrade the Basestation software to the latest version
Stage 4 - Enter the Radio License Key into Basestation

A PDF version of these instructions is available here

Stage 1 - Check firmware version

1) Run BaseStation.

2) Click on the Help->About BaseStation menu item. Check the value for Firmware Version.

If it reads "Beavis3 build 208" or "Beavis build 301" skip to Stage 3 If it does not, continue with Stage 2 to update your firmware

Stage 2 - Update the firmware for your SBS-1

Getting The Update Files

The update files are available free of charge from from the downloads page.

You can save the files anywhere, but we recommend you save them to the directory C:\SBS1Upgrade. The instructions below assume that you have saved the files to this directory. (Note: You will have to create this directory yourself).

There are two files in the upgrade package. They are:

sbs1v208.kff and SBS1FirmwareUploader.exe

These two files are available as separate downloads, or as a single zipped file. (You can download whichever is most convenient for you). If you download the zipped file, then remember to extract the two files from the zip file before moving onto the next step.

Performing The Update

1) Shut down BaseStation (if it us running).

2) Ensure that the SBS-1 is connected to your PC.

3) Disconnect the aerial from the SBS-1.

4) From the main Windows desktop, click on Start.

5) Click on Run.

6) Type "cmd" (don't type in the quotes) and click on OK.

7) Type "cd \SBS1Upgrade" (don't type in the quotes) and press the return/enter key.

8) Type "SBS1FirmwareUploader sbs1v208.kff" (don't type in the quotes) and press the return/enter key.

The uploader application will then upload the new firmware to your SBS1. This might take a few minutes. While the upload is being performed, it will print dots to the screen. When it writes "Completed Firmware Upload" to the screen then the upload is complete.

9) You should reconnect the aerial at this point.

Verifying The Update

1) Run BaseStation.

2) Wait until BaseStation connects to the SBS-1 (i.e. when planes start appearing).

3) Click on the Help->About BaseStation menu item. The About Box's Firmware Version value should be shown as "Beavis3 build 301".

Stage 3 - Update the Basestation software to version

The next step is to upgrade your Basestation to the latest version . You can download this from the downloads page.
