I'd like to be able to run my SBS-1 on my Ubuntu PC.

If anyone can give me a pointer or two as to how I could achieve this happy state of affairs, I'd be forever in your debt!

Verdict

Postby chrisg0wtz » June 8th, 2009, 8:17 am

Over 220 views and only 19 voted says Linux is in the minority for this hobby.

It will be catered for but not as hi priority as Windows or Mac

Cheers

edgy31.......

Thanks for your response. I've had a look at the link you supplied and although I'd like to run my system on Ubuntu, I don't think that my abilities are quite up to scratch as things stand at the moment!

Thanks again.

Linux here

You *can* use basestation using the wine emulator or crossover office but its basically view only as you cannot edit the db entries...and you can't use any of the addons like FD or AD as they use .net

Other option is use something like Virtualbox and just have a small virtual machine just to do basestation and the addons. The good thing is that you can have multiple machines running at the same time.

When I'm away I have one running connected to my home machine and then another for the usb stuff for where I am.

Hi Chris, I have to say that's a very poor mis-use of the figures, that could be the same 22 people viewed the thread 10 times to see the scoring, but you can only vote and be counted once, but each time a user opens it, it clocks up as a view. I've no axe to grind as I'm not and never will be a Linux user!
