How do you get the aircraft type to display on the 'radra' screen along with other aircraft data?

Is your database populated with a/c type or ICAO a/c type and you have one of these two fields selected in the aircraft label menu?

On the standard version (Spider 1.1.0.64) there is no separate aircraft type field that can be displayed on the radar. The workaround is to add an abbreviated type as part of the registration field within each xml file. eg G-CIVX (B747). Then if you display the reg it also displays a type if it has been filled in. One of the ATCBOX pre-prepared xml file sets has this sort of data for many of its entries.

If you are running the beta Snoopy version that uses a database (not xml files) then you have the possibility to display many different fields including a full type if you wish in the radar tag. There is also a separate field called ICAOTypeCode, that you would need to populate with data for the types yourself or use the beta XMLpopulate tool that is available on the Gatwick Aviation Society's website.

Type data must be either part of your reg field in each xml in Spider, or types filled in for an aircraft record within the database for Snoopy, without this information there is no way of displaying the type on the radar screen.

Just installed latest ATC-BOX download.
All I can say is Brill.
Have tried other converted files programs, but had problems getting info to work with later versions of Basestation.
This just extracts xml and you're away. Displays reg and type.

Big thank you to the guys at ATCBox

I agree......I recently switched over to the ATC Box files, and not looked back since.

Great to see the type on the screen, cuts out a lot of clicking on the a/c and/or the list!!

Berry Head BHD VOR/DME near Brixham in the UK. Went to look on holiday last year. You can walk right underneath. Amazing structure. Found a link with photos from someone else:
