Whats this then

The place to chat about using the BaseStation / SBS systems, ask questions, and to post any tips, tricks or stories about how you've used it. We'd also like to hear any suggestions you have for new functionality which we can add to the system.

And does one need the Radio Scanner Interface to use the built-in scanner, another £30?

Powering up and down of the Ethernet module is now automatic.
The Radio Scanner Interface for the built-in radio is included in the new Basestation at no extra charge.

Does that mean that you can scan a number of frequencies, or does it work like the previous Radio Interface - one frequency at a time?

Any joy with this Chris?

Will the built-in BaseStation radio let you scan a number of frequencies, or does it work as per the existing Radio interface?

Radio

Postby chrisg0wtz » June 20th, 2009, 1:38 pm

Hi

Not sure at the moment

I was due to colect one to play this weekend but due to a personal issue I have had to put it off until Monday.
I think the initial release is as per the existing interrface but the new software will incorperate memory scanning and a few other bits we are looking at

Cheers

The SBS-1ER Ships with the following

USB Cable
Audio Cable to PC
1090mHz Antenna
The new version 1.41 of Basestation
SBS-Resources

You will need an Airband antenna of some description
If you want to use Ethernet you will need a PSU 9v-36v DC (Centre positive) and an Ethernet cable.

The Radio is similar to how the original Radio key worked in funtions but I am sure it will get some enhancements very soon

http://www.hamradio.co.uk/kinetic-sbs-1er.shtml for details.

If you are not sure what SBS-Resources does in simple terms Kinetic got a programmer (Rick) to put together an install package to simplify the install of 3rd party add ons.

see www.sbs-resources.com

Despite what folk may tell you it takes about 30 minutes from start to finish to install the Basestation software and add ons
The hardest part is deciding what you want as there are numerous flags operator logos country outlines and so on.

Good thing is if you dont like what you see you are only a few mouse clicks away from changing the way it looks.

If you are into diving in and out of files and not frightened by Windows

Just to add to that

Postby chrisg0wtz » July 16th, 2009, 9:44 pm

The Radio key for use in all versions of the SBS is £30.00 and supports the following Radios.

AR-8600
AR-8200
Icom IC-R8500
Icom IC-R1500
Icom IC-R2500
Icom IC-PCR100/1000/1500/2500
ICOM CIV Radio's IC-9000 IC-7000 etc

The radio interface is to control your radio from within Basestation
Features and other radios may be added if demand is high enough

The built in Radio is not just a chip it is a very good high spec receiver
The only limitation is is the software implementation and now we have had some feed back more features will be added.
I have requested memories,Scan facilities,Link to flight data and priority watch.

If you have any other requests send them along
